Jim V Norton is a freelance journalist based in Sheffield.

He won The Guardian‘s Scott Trust Bursary in 2012 and is currently studying an MA in Journalism at The University of Sheffield.

Jim graduated from the University of York in 2011, with a 2:1 in Economics BSc.

He was the editor of York Vision student newspaper and founded economics magazine Equilibrium. He was shortlisted for four Guardian Student Media Awards and awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.

During 2012, he worked in Beijing as an editorial assistant at The World of Chinese magazine. He can speak Mandarin Chinese to HSK level 1.

He has interned at various publications, including The Sunday times, Reader’s DigestDaily Mirror, and The Guardian.

Jim is experienced in Adobe Creative Suite 5.5. and is working towards NCTJ accreditation, which includes media law and shorthand.
